Disc 1は劇場用の『MONTEREY POP FESTIVAL』、Disc 2は既発ビデオであるJimi Hendrixの『JIMI PLAYS MONTEREY』とOtis Reddingの『SHAKE! OTIS AT MONTEREY』を１枚にまとめて収録、Disc 3は未発表発掘映像を収めた『THE OUTTAKE PERFORMANCES』となっている。過去にVHS・LD等で既発だった映像とは段違いに画質／音質共に向上しており、またアウトテイク集の充実ぶりには目を見張るものがある。
Disc 1の「My Generation」は『THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT』で、Disc3の「A Quick One While He's Away」は『THIRTY YEARS OF MAXIMUM R&B LIVE』で既に発表済みだが、「Substitute」「Summertime Blues」の2曲についてはこれが初公開映像となる。特に「SubstituteでのKeithの姿は必見。
また、Disc 2の『JIMI PLAYS MONTEREY』ではPeteがJimiとのMontereyでの思い出について語っている。
付属のライナー（英語）にはThe Whoの写真も数点掲載されている。
日本版では独自特典として、日本語字幕、日本版ブックレット、DA Pennebaker監督のメッセージ映像がついている。

1985年7月13日（土）に、U2、Paul McCartney、Madonna、David Bowie、Queenらが集まって行なわれた歴史的チャリティ・イベント「LIVE AID」が2004年にDVD化された。The Whoはロンドンのウェンブリー会場に出演し、「My Generation」、「Pinball Wizard」、「Love Reign O'er Me」、「Won't Get Fooled Again」を演奏。（Disc 2に「Love Reign〜」と「Won't Get〜」のみ収録）また、Paul McCartneyの「Let It Be」（Disc 3に収録）にPeteが参加している。

海外の公式サイトではThe Whoのライブ映像を見ることができる。The Who単独ではなくダイジェストの中に含まれており、トップページ上に並んでいる白い文字のメニューから「THE DVD」を選択し、下に開いたサムネイルのうち地球の画像を選択することでダイジェスト映像（The Whoは『Won't Get Fooled Again』を演奏）が再生される。 また上のメニュー「LIVE AID」から「IMAGES」を選ぶとフォトギャラリーのコーナーが開き、こちらもThe Who単独はないが、「Let It Be」でのPeteやフィナーレでのRogerの姿が見られる。

1968年12月、BBCの企画で、放送はされなかったがThe Rolling Stones、John Lennon、Eric Clapton、The Whoなどの夢の共演が実現。The Rolling Stonesのギタリスト、Brian Jones(1969年死去)の最後のステージとなる。この放送の観客はThe Rolling Stonesのファンクラブ会員とN.M.E誌による抽選で選ばれた。

この番組が放送されなかった理由の一つに「Mick JaggerがThe Whoの演奏に嫉妬したから」というものがあるが、Rogerは2004年発売のThe Whoのドキュメンタリー映画『THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT Special Edition』Disc2でのインタビューでそれを否定している。Peteは 『ROCK AND ROLL CIRCUS』がDVD化された際に特典として加えられたインタビューで放送されなかったことを｢They(＝Stones) control their own career.｣と思ったと語っている。

Peteはオリジナルの歌詞「Little girl, stop your crying」の部分を「we'll make it all better on your little TV screen.」と換えて歌った。他にもThe Rolling Stonesの「Jumpin' Jack Flash」ではKeith、John、Peteが楽しそうに踊っているところが、「Salt Of The Earth」ではPeteとKeithが楽しそうにじゃれあっている姿が見られる。
また、ここに収録されている映像は、ドキュメンタリー映画『THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT』に収められているものと多少違うアングルである。
The Rolling Stonesのステージでは、The Whoのアルバム『MY GENERATION』『THE WHO BY NUMBERS』等で協力しているNicky Hopkinsが演奏している貴重な姿も見ることができる。

2005年7月2日（土）に、U2、Paul McCartney、Madonna、Pink Floydなど150のバンドが世界9ヶ所に集まって行なわれたイベント「LIVE 8」。DVDではロンドン・ハイドパーク会場とアメリカ・フィアデルフィア会場の2会場を主に収録し、所々でハイライト的に他会場の映像も織り交ぜている。The Whoはハイドパーク会場に出演し、「Who Are You」、「Won't Get Fooled Again」の2曲を演奏。また、フィナーレを飾るPaul McCartneyの「Hey Jude」（Disc 3に収録）でギターを持ったPeteの姿を見ることができる。

Disc 4に収められた特典映像は以下の通り。
こちらでは、「Who Are You」のプロモーション映像（The Whoは登場しない。アフリカで撮影されたもので、子供達がG8首脳たちのお面をつけて遊んだりする様子が映し出されている）を見ることができる。 また「Backstage at Hyde Park」では、ほんの一瞬だがRoger、Peteのそれぞれのバックステージでの様子が見られる。
